To act or not to act
I have been put in many situations where I have had the opportunity to act, but stepped down. Have you ever been in a situation where you were asked to talk in public and turned it down because you were to scared not only to talk, but scared you would mess up and embarrass yourself. About a months ago, the leader of Me 2 We asked myself to talk in front of the assembly and inform the senior school about the Vow of Silence. Just thinking about talking in front of such a big crowd, I chickened out and asked my friend to take my spot. I failed to act because I didn't want to be placed in a situation that I wasn't prepared for. I wished I got this opportunity to face to my fears, especially before I graduate. Giving awareness for the Vow of Silence is an important issue and I hope next time I get an opportunity like this, I will gain the courage to step up and do it.

Personally I have been in a situation where I was too scared to speak my mind, and as humans I feel as though we probably all have. Just know that you can certainly do it next time! nothing is as bad as it seems and it all gets better with practice:)
ReplyDeleteNour,
ReplyDeleteI thought this was an interesting post.I'm in the same boat with you as to the fear of public speaking, it scares me to think I would even have to speak in front of 10 people. But Sydney is right we're all only human and we have our fears and make mistakes. I wish you luck in the future to gain the courage to speak in front of a large crowd.
I understand where you are coming from and public speaking, I think, is a fear that can only be over come by practice. I am running spread the love for the winter term after the break and will need someone to make an announcement about the event.... Are you interested?
ReplyDeleteYou are right with this Nour, fear often hinders us from taking action. I like how you shared your own personal experience with us, it was a nice personal touch :)
ReplyDeleteTalking in front of a large group of people is really scary. I know I always choke even if it is something as small as a presentation in class. I have gotten a little better but I used to get so nervous I would feel sick to my stomach. Now when I speak in front of people I just tell myself that I know what I'm talking about and I have no reason to be nervous. You should be more confident in yourself.
