Becoming a Man of Value #7
"Try not to become a man of success but rather try to become a man of value." This was said by one of the most intelligent man's, Albert Einstein. What I believe what Albert Einstein is stating in the quote is that in order to really make an impact with your life, the money will only place you in a group of thousands of other rich people. It's the selfless good deeds that you do that will set you apart from the rest and you will be marked in history. This quote is important to me because I would rather do good for the world, and be the change, which is lacking now a days. Like Albert is stating that their are many rich and wealthy but what will really help one stick out is the good deed they do. On the news and in the paper, we hear about the man/woman who sacrificed their life in order to save someone else's life. Now that is a person of value, and they will always be remembered. Unlike the rich and wealthy they will maybe just be known, but they sure will not be remembered.

I think being a man of value means that you uphold your morals and act with integrity. Actually, the other day my dad said to me, "If there's one thing I can teach you as your father, it's that the only thing you have complete control over is your own integrity." This goes along with what you are saying, that doing good in the world as a person of value is better than simply being successful. How you act and react to your life is uniquely you, and at the end of the day, you alone can attest and justify your actions. You should always make sure that task isn't a difficult one.
ReplyDeleteI think its interesting that you focused on the aspect of people disregarding their true values, and instead focusing on accumulating physical wealth, etc. I agree with your opinion that our society is far to focused on money, when the simple truth is that in order to be truly successful you must focus on being kind and treating others with respect, and not just focus on making money.
ReplyDeleteHey Nour! great post and I agree with your idea that money can't buy happiness and in life values are what most people respect, not money. I do think that it doesn't require money though to stand out. Doing a good deed while you have nothing, to me, is more inspiring then doing a good deed when you have everything at your disposal. Is there a particular value that you believe to most important in terms of morals?
ReplyDeleteGreat post! :)
I definitely agree with you on the meaning of this quote. Having success and making money should not be a persons main goal, they should rather focus on being a good person with high moral standards. Great job on the post!
ReplyDeleteI think this is a perfect quote to describe why you should do good. You explained it very well and I think that your interpretation of it is what I would think of it. I agree that more and more people today are focused on the money and getting that large pay check rather than thinking about doing something for the benefit of mankind.
