The AIC reflection blog #8
In our closing statement, Our NSA mentioned that he was glad to see the Innovativeness and originality in our press releases and action forms. he also mentioned that it doesn't stop here that we need to pay attention now to the real world, and what is being done. our NSA stated that we accomplished the most important goal of Turkey joining the European Union, and how we did this quickly and maturely. Also he stated that our goal of Israel removing the embargo off the Gaza Strip was done perfectly, that giving Israel an ultimatum that they have 2 months to remove their embargo or Turkey will invade, was a great way to put pressure on Israel. The problem the NSA found was that our way of giving aid to palestine may interfere with Turkey joining the European Union. We did not clarify in our Press release that we have taken the Initiative to email the European Union, and asked if giving aid to Palestine would get us kicked out the EU. We got an email back stating that giving aid to Palestine, was fine, as long as it was done effectively and didn't cause other countries to forcefully get angry and cause problems with Turkey. Our NSA liked how we backed up our Action Form with a press release.

Becoming a Man of Value #7
"Try not to become a man of success but rather try to become a man of value." This was said by one of the most intelligent man's, Albert Einstein. What I believe what Albert Einstein is stating in the quote is that in order to really make an impact with your life, the money will only place you in a group of thousands of other rich people. It's the selfless good deeds that you do that will set you apart from the rest and you will be marked in history. This quote is important to me because I would rather do good for the world, and be the change, which is lacking now a days. Like Albert is stating that their are many rich and wealthy but what will really help one stick out is the good deed they do. On the news and in the paper, we hear about the man/woman who sacrificed their life in order to save someone else's life. Now that is a person of value, and they will always be remembered. Unlike the rich and wealthy they will maybe just be known, but they sure will not be remembered.

Evil to triumph for good people to do nothing
"All that it takes for evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing." As generations go by our society and countries are taking the easy path. One may be a good person, but they postpone and end up doing nothing. Allowing our country to slowly turn into a passive nation full of people who are waiting for things to happen but not taking initiative. High/Middle school becomes a scary place for many students, this is because of the bullies that take over the poor innocent kids life. Worst part is no one is doing anything about this over-whelming issue. Many kids are bystanders looking a kids shoving over other kids into lockers, making fun of them, and making them feel that there is no point in living. One issue that happened recently is in china, two year old girl got run over my car, and was lying there bloody and helpless, 18 people passed by, many cars drove by, none did ANYTHING. finally a stranger ran up and helped the little girl, after getting ran over twice, she later died in hospital. How could our world become such a horrible place to live in. No one seems to be taking action, and this issue seems to be getting worse. There are many examples of this is taking place. for the world to take evil to triumph is for good people to do nothing.
To act or not to act
I have been put in many situations where I have had the opportunity to act, but stepped down. Have you ever been in a situation where you were asked to talk in public and turned it down because you were to scared not only to talk, but scared you would mess up and embarrass yourself. About a months ago, the leader of Me 2 We asked myself to talk in front of the assembly and inform the senior school about the Vow of Silence. Just thinking about talking in front of such a big crowd, I chickened out and asked my friend to take my spot. I failed to act because I didn't want to be placed in a situation that I wasn't prepared for. I wished I got this opportunity to face to my fears, especially before I graduate. Giving awareness for the Vow of Silence is an important issue and I hope next time I get an opportunity like this, I will gain the courage to step up and do it.
